Local middle and high school students have organized a Sept. 20 rally at Morgan Hill City Hall to raise awareness of climate change and urge action.

The local event will take place at 4pm at City Hall, 17575 Peak Ave. All members of the community are invited.

Among those planning to attend the Morgan Hill rally are employees of Specialized Bicycle Components, which plans to close its corporate offices on Concord Circle and make a commanding presence at City Hall. Specialized employees will lead a group ride to the rally starting at 3:15pm Sept. 20.

In addition to attending the rally, Specialized will shut down online commerce on its website for 24 hours on Friday, instead directing its web users to learn more about attending student-led awareness activities in their local areas.

The Sept. 20 rally is held in solidarity with the Global Climate Strike, a series of events organized worldwide to protest the lack of action on climate change from Sept. 20-27. The movement was started by teen activist Greta Thunberg.
