Melina A. Hernandez, a 17-year-old senior at Live Oak High School, is the Times’ “Student of the Week.”
What inspires you?
My family because they are always there to help.
What is your favorite subject in school, and why?
Anatomy because it is interesting how the human body functions.
If you had the power to change one thing in the world, what would it be?
To decrease the amount of injustice.
If you could go anywhere, where would you go?
I would go to France because I want to improve in speaking French.
Name one big challenge in your life right now:
Preparing for changes about to occur in my life such as college.
What is your dream job?
My dream job is to be an Optometrist.
If you were stuck on a deserted island, what three things could you not live without?
The three things that I could not live without are toothpaste, water, and shampoo.
Favorite book:
“A Hundred Secret Senses” by Amy Tan.
What are your plans post high school?
My plan post high school is to attend a four-year college.
Something that makes you smile:
Something that makes me smile is to see my family healthy and happy.
