Playing a shot with the ball below your feet can be tricky.
Playing a shot with the ball below your feet can be tricky. The first thing to do is to assess the severity of the hill.
This will determine the appropriate knee flex you will need to get closer to the ball while keeping you in balance with the slope.
At address, make sure the weight is back towards your heels while bending forward from the hips slightly.
The tendency is to lunge forward during the swing, which will cause the club to come from outside the target line. As a result, you may lose your balance tip the ball or have the dreaded shank.
For the right-handed golfer, this lie will produce a slicing left to right ball flight, so aim to the left of the target. Conversely for the left handed golfer, the ball flight will move right to left, so aim right of the target.
Note, to help reduce the slice, close the club face a little at address. To insure good balance, swing smoothly minimizing your body motion.
