Henry Coe State Park will offer several spring programs this weekend to celebrate the new season.
A guided horse ride will depart from Dowdy Ranch at 9 a.m. Saturday. Dowdy Ranch can be reached from the Bell’s Station entrance. The ride will be led by equestrian volunteers Chere Bargar and Kitty Swindle. This is a reservation-only event. Reservations can be made by calling Bargar at 683-2247 or Swindle at 842-6215.
An hour later Winslow Briggs will explain how humans have affected the land that is now Coe Park during an ecology hike at 10 a.m. Saturday. This will be a 5-mile, 4-hour trip so hikers are encouraged to bring lunch and plenty of water.
Saturday evening’s program on coyotes will begin at 8 p.m. at the Coe Headquarters Visitor Center and is expected to last about an hour. Priscilla Campbell will explain the habits of these mischievous wild dogs, as well as entertain with some tall, but true, tales about their escapades.
In addition to these Saturday activities, wildflower walks will depart at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday. All walks and hikes depart from the visitor center at Coe Headquarters unless otherwise noted. The park, east of Morgan Hill, is reached via East Dunne Avenue.
