Panthers 7, Tigers 5

The pitching dominated in a great win by the Panthers in game one of Saturday’s double-header. Katie Machado pitched a terrific four innings producing eight strike outs and Gail Wiselogel came in and closed the game out with three key strike outs to end the day for the Tigers. Other highlights of the game included Kirsten Doting who singled on a long drive to centerfield and stole three bases including home plate to extend the Panther lead. Ali Bondi walked in the fourth inning and had an amazing slide at second base, narrowly avoiding a tag. Shannen Green was robbed of an extra base hit on a long fly ball to center field when the Tigers made a great defensive play. Maite Ourricarriet had a great game at first base making play after play. Great fielding by Brittney Lomanto, Tayler Kiss-Lane, Catrina Perez, and Ashley Jenkins all added to a terrific team win.

Panthers 11, Leopards 7

The Panthers took the second game on a very busy Saturday with Gail Wiselogel continuing her strong pitching averaging over one strike out an inning. Wiselogel was in command of her change-up and used it to her advantage to get key outs throughout the game. Plays by various players at second base throughout the game were key to the win. Brittney Lomanto made a heads-up play at second base charging a ground ball and throwing just in time to get the runner at first. Later in the game Ali Bondi made a great play at second base scooping up a grounder to her left and getting the runner at first base. Tayler Kiss-Lane also had a nice play charging a grounder and throwing for the quick out at first base. The Panthers really took charge in the third inning, which started when Lomanto walked, stole two bases and scored on a double to left field by Katie Machado. Machado scored a minute later on a line drive triple deep to right field by Kirsten Doting. Shannen Green then walked and a double steal by Doting and Green added another run to the score. In the final inning Catrina Perez, Maite Ourricarriet and Ashley Jenkins all walked and stole bases to extend the lead. Jenkins stole home and made a terrific steal narrowly avoiding a tag. Lomanto continued her terrific game with the final steal of home to end the scoring of the Panthers. Courtney Clampett of the Leopards had a terrific game showing her wide range of pitches and often tying up the Panther batters with her off speed pitches.
