The South Bay Singers will begin their new season on Tuesday, Sept. 5 and welcome new crooners of all ages and experience levels to join them.
Potential singers are invited to attend a rehearsal or two, without commitment, to see if they would like to join. Rehearsals take place 7 p.m. at the Church of the Latter Day Saints, located at 1790 E Dunne Ave., beginning Sept. 5 and continuing until the concert Dec. 2. The group was formed in 2012 from the Gavilan College Choir after the college had to decrease its music program. Since that time, it has grown and developed a reputation for singable music that entertains audiences both young and old.
Some of the choir’s past programs have included Disney music, Renaissance madrigals, classical oratorios and early jukebox music. The group works hard to offer something for everyone. For the upcoming Christmas season, the South Bay Singers will be performing Vintage Christmas music, from familiar carols to classic Christmas songs like “Chestnuts Roasting.”
