The South Valley girls have one last game to play as they take
on the East squad from Pennsylvania in the consolation final at 11
a.m. Saturday
KIRKLAND, Wash. — During its weeklong run at the Little League World Series, the Gilroy Junior All-Stars lost two games by a combined two runs. Unfortunately one of those losses came in the semifinals Friday.
The group of 13- and 14-year-olds known as the Garlic Girls narrowly knocked off defending champ Latin America (Puerto Rico), but ended up on wrong side of a 1-0 tilt in Kirkland, Wash., missing out on a spot in the championship game.
The South Valley girls have one last game to play as they take on the East squad from Pennsylvania in the consolation final at 11 a.m. Saturday.
The championship will feature Latin America and the Southeast team from Tampa, Fla., which beat Pennsylvania in the other semifinal Friday. Coverage of the championship game, which had been slated for 6 p.m., can be seen on ESPN 2 at 2 p.m.
The Gilroy-East game will not be aired.
