Morgan Hill – The Sobrato High girls volleyball season picked up its first win of the season, outlasting Andrew Hill in five games 30-28, 22-25, 17-25, 25-18, 15-10.

Sophomore Laura Billos led the way with 11 kills and Jordyn Hanne added nine kills and 28 digs. Lisa Schroedter picked up 36 digs and Ariel Mosbrucker had four blocks.

The Bulldogs (1-1) rallied after losing the second and third games to take the fourth game and forced a fifth and deciding game.

Andrew Hill held a 8-3 lead before a side out made it 8-4 and sent the serve over to Sobrato. Freshman Katie Nicca took care of the rest, serving eight straight points to take control of the game.

“She showed great focus in putting her serves over,” Bulldogs assistant coach Kevin Miller said. “You could see it in the faces of the rest of the girls that they really wanted to show they deserved this win.”

The Sobrato junior varsity team improved to 2-0 by earning a 25-15, 15-25, 15-7 win over Andrew Hill.

Alyssa Warren had four blocks and Kayla Unger had two kills to lead the Bulldogs.
