Next year’s El Toro Bowl may have some added drama.
Thanks to a vote by the Blossom Valley Athletic League football coaches and athletic directors, Sobrato will move down from the Mt. Hamilton Division to the Santa Teresa Division, joining Live Oak.
The coaches voted Tuesday to move Sobrato down and Leigh up to Mt. Hamilton. The Ads voted to uphold that decision Thursday. Schools have through December to appeal.
Assuming the decision goes through unchallenged, Live Oak and Sobrato will play next year in league.
According to both schools, the game could be played as both teams’ last contest of the season. According to Live Oak AD Mark Cummins, the BVAL teams will have to approve the two schools playing as the last game of the season.
Coach Albert King said he was happy with the decision and is looking forward to potentially having a league title on the line when the two schools square off.
