Santa Teresa pulls away in third
MORGAN HILL — The Sobrato Bulldogs nearly pulled off another upset to end nonleague play.

Against Santa Teresa — a Blossom Valley Athletic League ‘A’ Division team – Sobrato kept pace through the first half of Tuesday’s championship game of the Bulldog Chase only to fade in the third quarter.

Spencer Koopmans scored 15 points, A.J. Hanley collected 13 points and 11 rebounds and the visiting Saints prevailed for a 59-50 victory in Sobrato Gym. Santa Teresa also received a double-double — 12 rebounds and 11 points — from Connor Cassidy.

The Bulldogs trailed 23-20 at the half and were aided by Chris Bradley’s game-high 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field. Bryan Bradley and Ryan Williams scored nine points apiece for Sobrato, with Bryan Bradley adding five rebounds.

Bulldogs coach Lawrence Crawford was unavailable for comment.

The loss snapped a five-game win streak for Sobrato, which will take a 10-2 preseason mark into its BVAL-‘B’ Division opener at 7 p.m. today at Silver Creek. The Bulldogs return home Friday to play Del Mar and also host Mount Pleasant on Tuesday, both in league contests.
