The new Sobrato High School once again is a large part of the School Board agenda for the regular meeting Monday night as trustees will hear staff reports on the possibility of a soil analysis for the athletic fields, the athletic situation at both Sobrato and Live Oak and a security contract for monitoring the Sobrato construction site.

Members of the public and some trustees have called for a detailed list of Sobrato expenditures, as well as a projected operating budget for the new school; the possible soil analysis is not included in the construction budget but would have to come out of the contingency fund, according to the staff report.

Staff reports on the expenditures and operating budget are not on the agenda for this meeting.

Athletics at the two high schools is also a big concern for parents and students. Sobrato, which will only house 9th and 10th graders next year, will not have varsity sports at least for that year. Principal Rich Knapp has said there will be junior varsity sports and that games have been lined up for the football team, field hockey and badminton.

Knapp is hosting a Sobrato Open House on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., inviting community members to come see the progress on the high school, located on Burnett Avenue north of Morgan Hill and meet some of the staff.

Another item of interest on Monday’s agenda is information on the selection of a trainer to administer the program required by the settlement agreement in the Flores harassment lawsuit against the district.

The School Board will hold its regular meeting Monday at 7 p.m. in the District Office, 15600 Concord Circle. Details: 201-6000.
