More than 1,000 Swedish-Americans descended upon Sveadal Saturday for a Midsummer celebration. Midsummer signifies the beginning of summer after the Scandinavian country’s long winter. It is one of the most celebrated holidays in Sweden and is the largest annual event in Sveadal. Located at the entrance to Uvas Canyon, Sveadal consists of about 50 cabins and is owned by the Swedish-American Patriot League of San Francisco.
