A Sobrato High School student was pinned between two cars and taken to the hospital with potentially serious injuries Friday afternoon, police said.
As a line of student vehicles was leaving the Burnett Avenue school’s campus about 3 p.m., SHS senior Derek Deisenroth, 18, exited his Volkswagen Jetta, which was still moving, Sgt. Shane Palsgrove said.
Deisenroth, who was apparently “horseplaying,” tried to run around his vehicle, Palsgrove said. When he was in front of the car it continued to roll forward and he became “sandwiched” between his car and the rear end of the sedan in front of it.
Deisenroth was the only person injured in the accident. He was taken to San Jose Regional Hospital with potentially serious injuries, though Palsgrove did not know exactly what kind of injuries he suffered.
“We’d like for parents to remind their kids to stay focused as the end of the school year approaches, so that accidents like this don’t happen,” Palsgrove added.
