Vehicle theft
A 30-year-old man was charged with vehicle theft, felony evading and violation of Post-Release Community Supervision between 11:36 and 11:49 p.m. Aug. 30 on Cochrane Road at Madrone Parkway in Morgan Hill. The suspect fled a peace officer in a stolen Honda Civic. During the pursuit, the suspect crashed into a vehicle and fled on foot before being apprehended at the scene. The suspect was in possession of four shaved keys and a methamphetamine pipe. He also did not have a driver’s license.
Drugs
A 62-year-old man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and trespassing on railroad property at 1:15 a.m. Sept. 8 on Monterey Highway at Bailey Avenue in Coyote. The suspect had two glass methamphetamine pipes.
A 44-year-old man was charged with being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance at 8:15 a.m. Sept. 1 on Masten Avenue at Columbet Avenue in San Martin.
A 30-year-old man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 1:05 a.m. Aug. 27 on Old Gilroy Street at Monterey Highway in Gilroy.
A 49-year-old man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 12:38 a.m. Aug. 27 on Monterey Highway at Leavesley Road in Gilroy.
A 30-year-old woman was charged with being under the influence of CNS stimulant at 7:35 a.m. Aug. 26 on Bailey Avenue at Highway 101 in San Jose.
Identity theft
Someone obtained the victim’s name, address and social security number and attempted to use the information to open a Discover credit card at 11 a.m. Sept. 4 on the 9500 block of Via del Cielo in Gilroy.
Someone applied online to open a bank account using two victims’ personal identification between 8 a.m. Aug. 27 and 10:30 a.m. Sept. 4 on the 7000 block of Holsclaw Road at Gilman Avenue in Gilroy. The suspect applied online to the post office to hold mail requests for both victims as well.
Burglary
Someone cut two small locks and entered two storage rooms at a residence between 9:30 p.m. Aug. 29 and 6:30 a.m. Aug. 30 on the 200 block of San Bruno Avenue in Morgan Hill. The victim did not report anything missing, but the same property was broken into one week earlier and cash was taken.
Someone forced their way through a side door of a residence between 8 a.m. and 6:40 p.m. Aug. 25 on the 200 block of San Bruno Avenue in Morgan Hill. The suspect stole various pieces of jewelry and electronic devices worth $19,240.
Someone, between 8 a.m. Aug. 13 and 7 p.m. Aug. 23 on the 200 block of San Bruno in Morgan Hill, entered a residence through a side window and stole $340 from the bedroom. The suspect then stole another $200 from an unlocked vehicle. The suspect returned a week later and entered the residence through an unlocked rear window and took $1,500 from the living room dresser and a white Apple iPhone. In total, $2,340 was stolen.
Attempted burglary
Someone, between 2:45 and 2:48 p.m. Sept. 2 on the 1500 block of Barrett Avenue in Morgan Hill, attempted to break into a residence. The victim heard noises coming from the front room, looked out the bedroom door and saw a suspect standing there. The victim yelled and the suspect fled.
Unlawful wandering
A 56-year-old woman, between 12:30 p.m. and 2:20 p.m. Sept. 1 on Depot Street at Oak Street in San Martin, set up a camping site in the northwest corner of the VTA overflow parking lot and refused to leave when contacted by authorities.
Trespass
A 43-year-old man, between 6 p.m. Aug. 24 and 8:33 a.m. Aug. 25 on the 10000 block of Pacheco Pass Highway in Hollister, was charged with wandering on private property. The suspect refused to leave the Casa de Fruita property and stayed the night without permission, starting several disturbances.
Vandalism
Someone, between 3:57 p.m. and 3:59 p.m. Aug. 23 on Highway 101 at Masten Avenue in Gilroy, got into an altercation with the victim, followed them on the freeway and hit the side mirror with his fist, kicked the front passenger door and put gum on the front passenger side window. The estimated damage was $1,000.
