Identity theft
A victim from Morgan Hill filed his or her taxes online, never received their return and when they called the Internal Revenue Service learned that a refund in the amount of $6,849.59 was refunded to an account in Florida. The crime occurred between 8 a.m. April 1 and 5 p.m. June 25.
Fraud
Someone made approximately $1,400 in fraudulent charges on a victim’s Home Depot and Bank of America accounts between 12:01 a.m. June 14 and 11:59 p.m. June 24 on the 800 block of Las Animas Avenue in Gilroy. The victim lost or had the credit card stolen, along with several checks while moving his or her business from Gilroy to Carmel Valley.
Drugs
A 48-year-old man was charged with possession of controlled substance and being under the influence of a controlled substance at 6 p.m. June 24 on Mammini Court at San Martin Avenue in San Martin.
A 25-year-old man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended driver’s license at 1:30 p.m. June 23 on Leavesley Road at Holsclaw Road in Gilroy.
A 34-year-old man was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and a violation of probation at 8:01 a.m. June 22 on Leavesley Road at Roop Road in Gilroy.
