ENGAGEMENT: Teruel/Martinez: Baltazar and Veronica Teruel of Hollister announce the engagement of their daughter, Gabriella Isabelle Teruel, to Michael Anthony Martinez of San Martin.

Miss Teruel is a graduate of San Benito High School class of 2001 and received a degree in liberal arts/social science shortly after. She works as an RDA in Los Gatos.

Mr. Martinez, son of Elizabeth and Jose (Junior) Martinez, is a graduate of Live Oak High School class of 2005 and now works for GARDA.

The couple plans an Aug. 24, 2013 wedding at Seascape Golf Club in Aptos.

Rodney Garcia

Sgt. Rodney Garcia has returned from his second tour in Afghanistan. He was serving in the Sangsar and Zhari district and in the Kandahar Province. He is part of the 82nd Airborne/Infantry Division of the United States Army at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

Sgt. Garcia, of Gilroy, is the son of Rogelio Garcia and Paula Orosco; brother of Jacqueline Cherry, Catherine Aguilar, Lori Salgado, Rogelio Garcia Jr. and Laura; uncle of Shantel, Johnny, Richard, Justin, Rogelio III, Julian, Richelle, Ryan, Shyriah and Angel.

Carolyn Clayton-Daily

Carolyn Clayton-Daily, of Morgan Hill, has graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Clayton-Daily earned a master’s degree in painting.

The Savannah College of Art and Design is a private, nonprofit, accredited institution conferring bachelor’s and master’s degrees to prepare talented students for professional careers.

Michael J. Hill

Air Force Airman 1st Class Michael J. Hill graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Hill earned distinction as an honor graduate.

He is the son of Cathy and Jack Yovanov of Gilroy and a 2007 graduate of Valley Christian School.

Dorelia Lola-Maria Rose was born Aug. 16, 2012 at Kaiser San Jose to Elie and Don Rose of Gilroy. She weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces.
