School district admin-istrators, led by Assistant Superintendent Bonnie Tognazzini, school board representatives, and high school officials and coaches are scheduled to meet with Beile Sports of San Jose on Friday to discuss a variety of issues regarding the Live Oak High football field.

According to school district officials, the discussion will center around the condition of the football field, which was so torn up after the first few weeks of use last year that it had to be repaired, as well as a maintenance agree-ment and schedule for the 2004-05 school year.

School district officials said the maintenance agreement could likely include details such as irrigation and fertilization, and would cost about $28,000 per year.

The field, which was renovated last year, is still not being used for soccer this season because of its recuperative condition.

LO wrestling

A couple of key, and unexpected, losses by proven wrestlers proved to be too much for the Live Oak High wrestling team in a 37-33 dual meet loss at Palma on Wednesday.

Strong performances by Jason Hendersen (119), Michael Horner (215) and Mike Gamez (Hea-vyweight), who each won by pin, and Jake Ortiz (125), Richard Houssein (145), Pat Courtney (152) and Jonathan Redmond (171), who all won by decision, could-n’t offset a difficult time in the middle weight classes, along with surprise losses by standouts Hondo Dominguez (112) and Gabe Sedberry (189).

“The team did battle,” Acorn coach Manny Hernandez said. “We’re a young team but we’re going to keep battling.”

Live Oak hosts highly touted Hollister on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

LO girls hoops

Falling behind by a 29-2 deficit after the first quarter and down 44-9 at the half, the Live Oak High girls basketball team dropped another tough league contest, this time by a 66-33 score at Salinas on Wednesday.

Analise Curley had a team-high nine points for the Acorns, who fell to 0-3 in league play and 2-15 overall.

Live Oak is scheduled to host Notre Dame on Friday at 7 p.m.
