Sobrato High School was locked down this morning after an off-campus report of violence, but police quickly discovered that students were not in any danger.
Police received a call from a 36-year-old male resident of a mobile home park on Burnett Avenue near the school who reported he had been stabbed by an unknown suspect about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The man told police that the suspected stabber ran away in an unknown direction. However, when police arrived they learned the man’s wounds were self-inflicted and no other parties were involved, according to Sgt. Jerry Neumayer.
Although the stabbing injuries were not serious, the man was held on mental health concerns and transported to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, Neumayer said.
Because the incident happened adjacent to Sobrato High School, and police thought a suspect might have run through the campus, the school was locked down for about 15 minutes, Neumayer said.
Police do not know why the man cut himself and then made a false report.
