Morgan Hill – A San Jose man was injured Wednesday morning on Sycamore Avenue at Uvas Road when his motorcycle apparently hit a patch of ice.

California Highway Patrol Officer Chris Armstrong said Thomas Applebaum, 44, was flown by CalStar to Valley Medical Center after complaining of pain. His condition was listed as “fair” on Thursday.

According to the CHP report, Applebaum was driving a Honda motorcycle that went down on its side when it slid on a patch of ice.

“There were two calls at that location within 15 minutes of each other, so we think there was some black ice in that spot,” Armstrong said.

The accident occurred at approximately 10:35am.

Applebaum’s accident was “not DUI-related,” he added, and there were no other vehicles involved in the accident. Applebaum was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
