Morgan Hill’s city manager and city attorney will be giving up their automatic salary increases for the year because of the city’s ongoing budget woes. At Wednesday’s meeting the City Council is expected to approve the contract adjustments for the two.
City Attorney Helene Leichter’s contract was renewed in November 2002, increasing her salary to $135,187.
The council awarded City Manager Ed Tewes a total salary of $185,000 annually in September 2002, including a base salary of $149,000.
The annual cost of living adjustment to Tewes’s and Leichter’s base salaries are – according to the city staff report – “equal to the percentage increase in the San Francisco-Oakland/San Jose Urban Wage Earner Index” or the adjustment given to city employees in the management group, whichever is greater.
Also on the city financial scene, the Finance and Audit Committee will hold a special meeting Wednesday at 5 p.m. at City Hall. The committee will consider potential general fund revenue sources to recommend to the City Council on a future time.
The council is also expected to accept the staff recommendation for the aquatic center to be managed during its first year, by city staff and, during the off-season, by the Morgan Hill Aquatic Foundation.
City Council and Redevelopment Agency meets at 7 p.m. Wednesdays in City Hall Chambers, 17555 Peak Ave. Meetings are broadcast live on cable channel 17. Details: www.morgan-hill.ca.gov or 779-7271.
