Morgan Hill – – SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST: Morgan Hill’s hometown girl Ryan Ramirez, 19, is just one week away from advancing to the Top 10 on FOX’s “So You Think You Can Dance?” Last year, Ramirez was eliminated early and didn’t make the Top 24 to dance on-stage in Hollywood. This season, she said she’s grown as a person and as a dancer – and with support from the judges, Ramirez and partner Ricky Jaime have been kept in the nationally televised dance competition. Once in the Top 10, dancers no longer perform as couples, but as individuals.
– BELLY OF BUTTERFLIES: Ramirez got choked up when host Cat Deely announced she and Jaime were among the bottom six dancers on last Thursday’s show. Twice this season the couple were in the bottom because they didn’t receive enough viewer votes, and twice they have been saved by the judges after “dancing for their life” to prove they are worthy of continuing on the TV show. The 12 dancers remaining spent most of Thursday’s live show crying because their friends Ashley Rich and Chris Koehl were eliminated. Guest judge and former “SYTYCD?” dancer Travis Wall said he was shocked and surprised that Ramirez was up for elimination. “America got this wrong,” Wall said Thursday.
– MORGAN HILL MUST VOTE: The next two-hour live performance show is Wednesday at 8 p.m. Viewers can vote by text message, phone call or on Facebook for two hours after the show airs. It’s important to note you can vote as often as you can text or call – Ramirez’s aunt Tiffany Goller who owns Tiffany Salon in downtown Morgan Hill texts upward of 15 votes a minute. Her husband is known as the “Text Terminator;” and she’s asking for everyone in town to vote, and vote often for Ramirez. Read more about Goller and Ramirez’s experience on “SYTYCD?” online Wednesday and in Friday’s edition of the Times.
