The annual Run for the Stinkin’ Roses returns this weekend.

Presented by South Valley Running Club, the annual 10K and 5K
races will begin Sunday morning at Solorsano Middle School
GILROY — The third year of the Run for the Stinkin’ Roses will commence Sunday morning at Solorsano Middle School, 7121 Grenache Way, in Gilroy.

The race has been scaled back since its first year due to economic conditions, but former Race Director and current committee member Joe Green said the event, which will feature 5K and 10K races, is still expect to draw anywhere from 100-150 people.

“It’s a little bit more low-key than it was, (but) our expectations are to put on a quality event,” Green said.

Organizers are trying to encourage young and old, slow and fast, and anywhere in between to attend the event.

“People come out and walk it,” Green said, adding that the main goal is “to promote running in the community, exercise and the enjoyment of that.”

Registration is $30 and available an hour before the race, which will start at 8 a.m. Participants will most likely receive a T-shirt and awards will be given to the top three in each race.
