Sobrato softball lost for the first time in Santa Teresa Division play by 6-5 score Wednesday to Lincoln.
The Bulldogs were limited to four hits, including a double by Marissa Heffernan, but led 5-0 through four innings in San Jose. The Lions scored two runs in the second and four in the sixth.
Nicole Kiles singled and drove in a run, and Mackenzie Mitchell, Gail Wiselogel and Kallie Klinger had hits for Sobrato. Bulldogs starter Samantha Torres went the distance, allowing four earned runs on six hits.
Sobrato (8-1, 11-4) fell into a tie for first place with Prospect, which will visit Sobrato next Wednesday.
Baseball
Live Oak had a chance to pull into a tie for second place in the Santa Teresa Division on Wednesday but lost 5-2 to visiting Oak Grove.
Mitch Hickey had two hits and scored, and Jakob Conlan singled twice to lead the Acorns (10-11, 7-9). Conlan also struck out five in 5 2/3 scoreless innings.
Oak Grove broke a 2-2 with three runs in the seventh.
Mount Pleasant, which clinched the division title Wednesday, visits Live Oak at 4 p.m. Friday.
– In the Mount Hamilton Division, Sobrato beat Branham 2-1 on Monday but lost 4-0 to Pioneer on Wednesday.
The Bulldogs (6-10, 8-14) are two games out of the league’s fourth and final playoff spot with five games remaining.
Boys tennis
Sobrato’s season ended with a 7-0 loss to Leigh in the first round of the Blossom Valley Athletic League Team Tournament on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs’ Alex Ferreira nearly took the top singles match, falling 6-4, 4-6, 6-10.
Boys golf
Live Oak clinch second place in the Mount Hamilton Division with a 228-236 victory over Evergreen Valley on Tuesday at Eagle Ridge Golf Course.
Live Oak and Sobrato will play in the BVAL Tournament next Tuesday at Coyote Creek.
