Katie Obbema threw a four-hitter with six strikeouts and drove in a run, and Live Oak moved above .500 in the Mount Hamilton Division on Wednesday, beating Piedmont Hills 6-2 in San Jose.

The Acorns tied it 2-2 in the fifth inning and pulled away in the sixth with help from Hanna Doting, who collected an RBI-base hit in her second varsity at-bat.

Tiffany Moore scored twice, drove in a run and hit safely as well for Live Oak (8-5, 3-2).

Baseball

Mitch Hickey struck out 17 and allowed four hits and two walks in his second complete game, and the Live Oak Acorns received hits from seven  players Wednesday in winning 6-3 at Piedmont Hills for their sixth straight victory.

Kyle Quadros and Ben Nuno singled twice, and John Forestieri doubled and drove in a run to lead the Acorns (8-8, 5-6), who moved into a three-way tie for fourth place in the Santa Teresa Division. Forestieri (.477 BA) has hit safely in seven straight games.

Hickey, a sophomore, moved to 3-2.

Boys golf

Sobrato improved to 7-0 in the Santa Teresa Division with a 224-246 victory over Piedmont Hills on Monday at Santa Teresa Golf Course.

Sobrato senior Scott Henningsen shot a 39 as medalist.

  • Live Oak’s Matt Jarvis tied for the medalist honor Tuesday, as the Acorns edged Santa Teresa 232-235 at Eagle Ridge.

Live Oak moved to 4-3 in the Mount Hamilton Division.
