The old saying goes something like “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” And so it was at the Morgan Hill Rotary Club’s White Elephant Auction recently held at the Jackson Oaks Clubhouse.
Rotary Club members, their spouses and friends were lively bidders on “treasures” donated by other club members. The auction was accompanied by a barbecue and raffle and, altogether, raised about $3,000 that will be used for the Rotary Club’s philanthropic activities.
The Morgan Hill Rotary Club’s primary fund raising event is a golf tournament held on the first Friday in October each year. All funds raised at the golf tournament are used for local and international service projects.
Each year, the club gives more than $12,000 in scholarships to local high school students and sponsors a dinner for about 300 Morgan Hill seniors. Club members also perform hands-on community service projects.
