Fundraisers help raise money for charitable projects
Morgan Hill – The Rotary Club of Morgan Hill is teeing up its 13th annual golf classic.

The event takes place Friday, Oct. 6 at San Juan Oaks Golf Club in Hollister.

It’s one of the Rotary Club’s biggest fund raisers, helping to support more than $30,000 of annual donations for community and international projects, said club president Lou Mirviss.

Locally, the club awards $14,000 in scholarships every year to graduating high school seniors. The group also gives away $100 bonds to high-achieving students at each one of Morgan Hill’s public schools. The charitable group also funds the annual Harvey Barrett Dinner in April, now in its 23rd year, as an event for seniors.

The price to enter the tournament is $200 per golfer. Registration and a continental breakfast begin at 9am and last until 10:30am. Putting green and driving range contests also will be held from 9-10:30am. An awards dinner and a live auction and entertainment take place 6-8pm.

To raise money from non-golfers – i.e. wives whose husbands are out on the links, Mirviss said – the club is hosting its second annual Fashion Show & Tea Luncheon. Featuring fashion trends of the fall season, including collections of Doncaster designer couture, and clothing from Michelina’s House of Haute Style and Megy’s Boutique, with hair and make-up styling be Cherisse’s Hari Salon and Day Spa.

There will be a champaign reception, drawing and prizes. Tickets are $40.
