Jennifer Rosa and Benjamin Maka, both Morgan Hill natives, recently announced to delighted friends and family their intent to marry Aug. 10 in Ben Lomond, Calif.

Although Rosa, 27, and Maka, 31, lived just miles away from each other for most of their lives, it wasn’t until a 2001 Memorial Day party given by Paul Schiffman of Morgan Hill that they actually met and started dating. The couple, who share interests in camping, fishing, the Giants, cooking (he cooks, she cleans up afterward) and time with friends and family, plan to stay close to the community that brought them together.

Although both work near San Jose, Maka for US Filter as a water technician and Rosa for Synplicity, Inc. as a marketing specialist, they will make Morgan Hill their permanent home.

“Ben and I thoroughly enjoyed growing up in Morgan Hill and it’s important to us to stay close to our families and friends here,” Rosa said.
