Robeks Fruit Smoothies & Healthy Eats in Morgan Hill is gearing up with its “Live Healthy” RobeksBand in order to raise money to benefit the Save the Children U.S. Programs Nutrition and Physical Activity Initiative beginning in October.
“Robeks is committed to helping low-income children throughout the country just as we are committed to improving nutrition for everyone. By offering a portion of the proceeds of these bracelets, we believe that it will assist Save the Children to create and execute their preventive strategies for childhood obesity, particularly among low-income families,” said Ruben Cabrerros of Robeks in Morgan Hill.
Robeks is offering the bracelets or wristbands for $1 and the corporation has already committed to donating a minimum of $25,000 to the non-profit organization.
Save the Children recognizes children’s nutrition has a direct impact on their ability to learn and obesity is one of the top health threats in the U.S., particularly for low-income children.
Cabrerros said the store hopes to sell out of the bands so that the maximum amount can be raised to benefit the organization.
The bracelets will be on sale at Robeks in Morgan Hill until September 2006.
Save the Children is focused on helping low-income children in the U.S. and one of its key initiatives for children living in poverty is obesity prevention. The organization is developing school and community-based strategies to increase physical activity and address nutritional concerns among children in the U.S.
