The California State Historical Commission will consider giving Morgan Hill’s Rhoades Ranch a “National Register of Historic Places” designation at 9 a.m. Friday at the Secretary of State Auditorium, located at 1500 11th St. in Sacramento. The public is invited to present oral statements at the hearing at the appropriate time. Written comments may also be submitted to the following address:

Rhoades Ranch is the 12.27-acre ranch in Morgan Hill is associated with Harold Thomas, a significant figure in California’s strawberry industry. The ranch includes The Rhoads House, a “Spanish Eclectic” home designed by master architects Howard Higbie and Andrew P. Hill Jr.
There are 10 nominees total, including the Empire Mine in Grass Valley; Fender’s Radio Service in Fullerton; Hakone Historic District in Saratoga; Huntington Beach Library on Triangle Park in Huntington Beach; Irene Burns House in Auburn; and Robert Stanley Dollar, Sr. Residence in San Diego.
