An attempted murder occurred at 9:15 p.m. Thursday when someone fired two rounds from a handgun at a resident’s vehicle for unknown reasons, police Capt. Bob Brooks said.

It happened near Westside Boulevard and South Street, said Brooks, who declined to verify information on the victim.

Brooks did say that citizen driving in the vehicle was followed by the suspected shooter for unknown reasons. The suspect pulled up beside the victim and fired two rounds from a handgun, Brooks reported.

The matter is under investigation, and the department is “following up on leads,” Brooks said.
