Red Phone

“Dear Red Phone, I play tennis for recreation – and so much appreciate the city’s facilities – but I’ve noticed some nets are hanging really low. How often does the city check on these nets and who should I call if I see a low hanging net? Thanks a lot.”

Red Phone: Dear Aced, Red Phone contacted Community Services Director Steve Rymer, who said the city works in cooperation with the Morgan Hill Tennis Club (www.mhtennis.com) to maintain the tennis courts  and the nets at Community Park, where most of the city courts are located.

“This is a result of the Tennis Club offering to work with the city to ensure the courts receive the attention that they deserve and to assist in growing the game of tennis in Morgan Hill,” Rymer said.

Other parks with tennis courts are Oak Creek Park and Diana Estates. City crews have tightened nets at all parks, Rymer added.

If a problem with any city tennis courts is observed, residents should contact the Community Services Department either via the city website (look for the “Report a Concern” button) or by calling (408) 776-7333.

There you have it, good caller.

New hours at farmers market

“Red Phone, driving down Dunne Avenue the other day, we noticed the farmer’s market in the old Mervyn’s parking lot has heeded the advice of many of your readers. They’ve moved the time and the market is now open from 3 to 7 p.m. to accommodate those of use who commute. Thanks very much to whoever made that decision.”

Red Phone: Dear Happy Shopper, Red Phone couldn’t agree more. The market is indeed now open in the afternoon, and those of you who commute or couldn’t make in the late morning or early afternoon, now have the chance to get there. Plus, with daylight lasting until almost 9 p.m., it’s the perfect opportunity to do some browsing.

Happy shopping, good caller.
