The South Bay Regional Public Safety Training Consortium, which has been training public safety students and working professionals for more than two decades, will open at Gavilan College’s new Coyote Valley Educational Center at the start of the new year.
Construction is nearing completion and South Bay classes at the new Bailey Avenue campus will commence on Jan. 3. In partnership with Gavilan College, a grand opening event for the new campus is planned for Jan. 11. Gavilan College will begin offering classes at the new site in Spring 2017.
South Bay, commonly referred to as The Academy, assists its partner community colleges throughout the greater Bay Area by delivering a variety of public safety courses, approved by state certifying agencies and articulated through the community colleges. Working professionals and aspiring future first responders are able to complete training requirements while earning college credits.
“We are grateful to Gavilan College for its vision and offer to host The Academy,” said South Bay’s President, Steven Cushing. “The partnership will benefit public safety agencies, our students, and the community.”
