Safe at last, support our troops

“I just received an e-mail from Mary Ellen Salzano the other day informing me that her son, Ethan Salzano, is back on safe soil! Thank God. Welcome home Ethan and THANK YOU for being there for your country when we asked you to serve. All seems well now with the Salzano’s knowing that Ethan is back, not over there anymore, not away from home, not away from a phone that he could use to call his mom, dad, or sister to let them know how he was doing. Mary Ellen Salzano is a strong woman with the will of a tank, but this was something that was always haunting her because of the shadows, because of the not knowing. Have you ever been afraid of the phone ringing?

I recently had to go to Kentucky to rush to my mother’s death bed, and I missed saying goodbye before she slipped away from us by 30 minutes. A HALF AN HOUR!! The not knowing will haunt me for the rest of my life. THANK GOD ETHAN IS HOME AND SAFE! However, on the way out there I ran into some military personnel in the airports, and I stopped every time I saw a soldier in uniform and said: “THANK YOU!” It is an easy thing to do no matter what side of the fence you are on! These guys are over there for OUR COUNTRY. Lets show them that we care. If you know a veteran, thank them too for the service they provided to our country.

I employ Ethan’s sister Julia Salzano at a local Morgan Hill business and I am so happy for her and her parents for the sigh of relief that they can finally breath knowing that Ethan is safe, and they will be able to see him soon. Please support our troops. They keep us safe!”

Red Phone

Well, Red Phone has certainly never been afraid of the phone ringing, but can understand why Mary Ellen Salzano would be. Ethan, who had safely arrived at his Marine base in Hawaii when this letter was written, actually returned to Morgan Hill and his family on Thursday. Look for a story on Mary Ellen and her son in the Tuesday, March 28 issue of Pride.
