Where’s the proof
Wet weather last week has one caller chaffed with the Morgan Hill Times – questioning whether or not the Times’ truly has a 99 percent satisfaction rate with our customers in regard to our delivery service.
“I’m a Morgan Hill resident and this is in regard to the Morgan Hill Times. I read an ad in the paper this week, ‘99 percent we want 100 percent satisfaction.’ I’m just wondering if you’ll say publicly how you came up with that number of 99 percent in terms of how people receive their paper and where they receive their paper. I asked for a tube and received one, but the carrier never puts the paper in the tube. I’ll be calling circulation too, but I thought this was a good question for the Red Phone because I don’t believe it.”
The caller is referring to the fact that 99 percent of our subscribers are satisfied with our delivery service. It’s a fact we proudly advertise. Also true is that though 99 percent is pretty darn good, we want everyone to be happy with when, where and how they receive their paper. To be sure, Red Phone called Circulation Director Walt Glines to ask how the 99 percent was determined. Glines said the circulation department charts complaints about delivery problems, then compares the number of complaints by the number of customers we serve. On average, at least 99 percent of subscribers are satisfied with their service.
“We strive for 100 percent and we’re not always able to achieve it, but if you give us a phone call we’ll always bring you out a newspaper and make it right,” Glines said
Glines also admits that problems do occur with our deliveries due to unforeseen circumstances. Sometimes it rains unexpectedly after our papers are delivered or a new carrier has trouble learning the intricacies of a new route, but we’re committed to giving you your local paper every issue.
If you have problems with your delivery, call our circulation department at 842-2327.
Thanks for trimming
A caller dialed up the Red Phone over the summer to complain about some tree branches that had grown very low on Depot Street. Now the trees have been trimmed and the caller is grateful.
“Hi Red Phone, I called over the summer because there was a tree on Depot Street that had very low branches across the sidewalk. I just wanted to call back and say the tree has been trimmed and isn’t a problem anymore. I don’t know who did it, but thanks.”
