Trash Trouble

“I noticed at the corner of Third and Monterey streets, there’s still one of the cardboard garbage bins out. It looks like the ones they used for the Taste of Morgan Hill.

“Wasn’t someone supposed to come pick those up? Maybe they just missed that one.

“Anyway, I was just hoping you guys could find out who does that so it doesn’t sit there full of garbage. I wasn’t sure if it’s the city or the people in charge of the Taste, or what. Thanks.”

Red phone called around, and around, but finally found the answer to the question that’s “bin” bothering this reader. Sorry, the Crimson Crusader just can’t resist an obvious pun.

Red Phone started with South Valley Disposal, but they informed Red Phone that they don’t put out or pick up those type of garbage cans. So, Red Phone tried the Recreation and Community Services Department and they directed Red Phone to the Chamber of Commerce.

Finally, Red Phone reached Garrie Bryant at the Chamber, who informed Red Phone that, yes, they were the ones who put out the trash bins for the event, and that the Boy Scouts were in charge of picking them up afterward.

Garrie assured Red Phone that he would go out and pick up the missed bin Thursday. Sure enough, the bin was gone before the afternoon and yet another problem was solved by Red Phone – with help from readers and the friendly people at the Chamber of Commerce.

Where’s the paper?

“Yes, I would just like to say that some of your vending machines that sell your paper were empty – the ones in front of the doughnut shop and your office. The one in front of your office has the old paper.”

Ok, that’s a problem, but one the staff at the Morgan Hill Times will always quickly fix. After speaking with our circulation department, it seems a new carrier accidentally forgot a couple of racks last Saturday and a circulation staff member needed to fill the racks.

Though these type of mistakes are rare, they do happen sometimes. After learning of the problem the racks were immediately filled, Red Phone was told by our circulation department. Usually, the papers are all delivered by 6:30am, both on subscribers’ doorsteps and in the racks outside businesses.

For future problems with paper deliveries, please call the Circulation Department at 842-2327, not the Red Phone. They are open Monday 5am-5pm, as well as Saturdays, 5am-1pm.
