Kaitlyn Rauschnot did it all for the Live Oak High softball team at the Watsonville High Tournament on Saturday.

The sophomore pitcher hurled a complete-game three-hitter on the mound, then came up with the game-tying two-run triple for the Acorns in their 3-2 victory over Carmel.

The only thing Rauschnot didn’t do was score the winning run, and that was just because she was replaced by a pinch-runner — Raelyn Ferry — who scored that for her.

However, there was little doubt that Rauschnot was the star of the game.

In fact, the only reason she didn’t get a shutout was some shaky defense behind her, as the Padres picked up two unearned runs to take a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning.

But, in the top of the sixth, Rauschnot erased that short-lived deficit with her three-base hit, which scored Samatha Ferry and Alyssa Adamo with the tying runs.

Live Oak (9-7 overall) had its second tourney game, against Mercy Burlingame, rained out and postponed until this Saturday. But the Acorns still qualified to advance to the tourney’s champion-ship bracket play.

Meanwhile, third-place Live Oak returns to Tri-County Athletic League playthis week, hosting Salinas on Tuesday and playing at first-place Notre Dame on Thursday.

JV results:

The Live Oak junior varsity softball team improved to 13-4 overall with a 10-0 win at North Salinas in league play on Thursday, and a 3-3 tie against TCAL rival Hollister-San Benito and a 6-2 win over tourney host Salinas at the Salinas Tournament on Friday.

Against North Salinas, Kelly McDonald had a homer and Tricia Goularte had a two-hit shutout. Against Hollister, Amanda Rosevear had two RBIs and Vanessa Mata singled in the tying run with two outs in the final inning. And, against Salinas, Mata picked up the win on the mound and Goularte had a grand slam.
