Yes, winter is upon us and the courses are saturated. Playing in these condition can be a challenge especially when you’re trying to keep yourself and the clubs dry. Here are some helpful tips to deal with these conditions.

When the ground is soft, playing a shot off the fairway can be a little tricky. First, choke up on the club an inch, then move the ball back in your stance. This helps prevent hitting behind the ball.

It’s easy to lose your footing in wet condition. So try to shorten your swing for better control.

Using a more lofted club off the tee can give you more carry and distance.

When playing a bunker shot off of wet compact sand, use a pitching wedge instead of your sand wedge. The pitching wedge has less bounce; this will prevent the club from bouncing off the hard sand into the middle of the ball.

Equipment tips:

When it’s raining, hang your glove and towel under the umbrella.

Bring extra towels and gloves.

A lightweight Gore-Tex rain suit.

Hand warmer.

Most Important, keep your grips dry!
