Quin’s Café downtown is now open for breakfast on Saturday mornings bringing to three the homey places where one can find an early-morning meal. Just Breakfast and the House of Bagels now have some competition.

Quin’s breakfast menu includes such delectables as “Caps Galore,” an egg dish loaded with mushroom caps and melted cheese, gourmet pancakes, omelets, Belgian waffle’s and Eggs Benedict.

Joe and Sarah Simon, who recently purchased Quin’s, have heard many comments suggesting that another breakfast locale would be a great addition to downtown since lines outside Just Breakfast, a block away at 17415 Monterey Road, are always long. The House of Bagels is across the street at 17300 Monterey Road at East Third Street.

With that in mind, the Simons created a breakfast menu they say is scrumptious enough to get people out of bed in the morning. Quin’s will even serve health-conscious choices, such as 7-grain granola pancakes, or a “Breakfast Cocktail” – a combination of fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, nuts and raisins.

Eventually, the Simons hope to expand the breakfast offerings to additional days.

Sarah was raised in Morgan Hill in a family here since 1852. After years of traveling and living elsewhere, she and her husband say they are happy to call Morgan Hill home once again.

Sarah has always enjoyed preparing good food to share with family or friends and considers that an important life pleasure. Besides the new breakfast menu, the couple has many plans in store for the café. They say to stay tuned and see what comes next.

Quin’s Café is located on Monterey Road between West Second and West Third streets, between South Valley Bikes and Thinker Toys.

Besides breakfast, Quin’s serves sandwiches, a variety of salads and pasta dishes, espresso coffee, desserts, beer, wine, calzones and pizza. The café is open for breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays only. It is open for lunch Monday through Saturday, and open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday.

Details: Quin’s Café, 17385 Monterey Road, 776-0164.
