The questions I hear more often than not are
“How can I cut down on 3 putting?” To create a good putting
stroke you’ll need to practice speed and focus on the short to
intermediate putts. As you practice your putting, learn to lag
putts from the 25-30 feet distance to within two feet of the hole.
When you determine what your line of the
putt is, focus all your attention on the speed and forget about
the line.

A great drill for perfecting your stroke is “The Ladder Drill.” To make putting practice interesting, place six balls in a line from 18 inches to ten feet from the hole. First, sink the 18-inch putt, then the two-footer, and so on, finishing with the ten-footer. If you miss one, start over and go on until you’ve sunk the six balls with six consecutive strokes. By setting yourself a target, you will get into the habit of taking great care with every single putt.
