The Pride U12 Gold team played their first tournament of the season at Twin Creeks in Sunnyvale, May 31 – June 1st. The team beat the Belmont Blast Saturday afternoon to advance Sunday against the Livermore Smoke.

Kelly Hillman was at the mound Saturday afternoon, and Holly Turay and Stephanie Doting shared responsiblities behind the plate. Hits from Maureen King, Chere PreJean and Danielle Clampett assisted the Pride in their 9-4 win. A line drive caught by CJ Wrye and a toss to shortstop Brittany Vaughn-Vandagriff caught the Blast runner off base for a double play shutting down the Blast hopes for a big inning in the third inning.

Sunday morning the Pride lost 4-2 despite a strong showing form third basemen Sarah Cornaggia and outfielder Nicole Sanchez. Hillman pitched well for the Pride striking out three batters.

The Pride team is home this weekend at the Summer Slugfest at Community Park with the first game at 10 a.m Saturday against Marin, followed by a 1:30 p.m. match against Fremont Flyers.
