Subject:  Preventable Flooding of Homes.
There are several hundred homes adjacent to lower Llagas Creek between Santa Teresa Blvd., and Monterey Road; many of them are occupied by senior citizens. That area of the Creek is strangled with vegetation and trees and much of it has been distressed or is dead due to our severe drought. During the past summer the fire danger was significant, and now, with an El Nino winter almost upon us, the possibility of flooding our homes is very real. Contacting the City as well as the County Water District has been futile since we’ve either been ignored or they continuously point at each other and claim there is no funding to address the very real possibility of flooding. Walk along that area of Llagas Creek and you will realize that the normal flow of water from Chesbro Reservoir and natural runoff will be severely restricted by the overgrowth and dead tree limbs; thereby causing that runoff to flood the nearby adjacent homes. Why hasn’t the City/County taken the appropriate actions to prevent a flooding disaster?
