The paving of Santa Teresa Boulevard and Hale Avenue in north Morgan Hill will continue to affect traffic throughout the month of October, according to Santa Clara County staff.
Local streets remain open to residents and businesses with limitations during the county’s repaving project, which will take place in phases through January 2013 along a 6.3-mile stretch of Santa Teresa Boulevard, from north of Laguna Avenue to West Main Avenue, according to county staff.
Detours signs and electronic messages will be set up daily along the project route to give advance warning to drivers.
The current phase of the project includes roadway pavement repair and overlay of rubberized asphalt and striping, county staff said.
Two miles of the work zone will be closed each day to allow the construction, during weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to county staff. Depending on local traffic conditions, the actual timing may fluctuate to accommodate local traffic.
This schedule is expected to continue through October, after which will remain minor impacts through the end of the year to accommodate lane striping and other improvements, county staff said.
The project is intended to give motorists a smoother ride along the route, wider bike lanes, drainage improvements, and pedestrian improvements including sidewalks and ADA curb ramps. Pedestrians will be able to walk on sidewalks continuously in the residential area from Via Loma to West Main Ave.
