Live Oak Acorns

The Live Oak boys basketball team needed two overtimes to take down Hill Wednesday night, winning in a 54-49 thriller in San Jose.
The Acorns sit at 2-1 in South Division play and 5-8 overall.
Live Oak trailed by four heading into the fourth quarter and once again rode a strong regulation close to stave off defeat.
The Acorns outscored Hill 13-9 to force OT after having led 11-9 after the first quarter, but going down 20-18 at the half.
After falling behind 31-27 going into the fourth quarter, the Acorns rallied to keep alive for another four minutes, which then stretched four minutes further.
Both teams did not shoot well in the first OT, combining for six points to go into the second session tied 43-43.
That’s when Live Oak finally put things away.
An 11-point second OT frame put Live Oak ahead for the win.
The Acorns are at Pioneer Friday and will return home Wednesday to host Leland at 7 p.m.

Sobrato boys stay perfect

The Sobrato boys basketball team needed to fight more than it has in the last week but eventually took down Gunderson 60-52 on Wednesday.
The Bulldogs improve to 3-0 in South Division play and are 10-3 overall.
Sobrato will next host Leland Friday night before hitting the road Wednesday to take on Pioneer.

Live Oak girls basketball

The Live Oak girls basketball team improved to 3-1 in league play Thursday night, taking down Pioneer 48-33.
The Acorns now stand at 7-7 overall with the win.
Live Oak got rolling quickly, jumping out to a 15-6 lead in the first quarter.
The defense stayed hot in the second, holding Pioneer to four points to overcome a six-point frame or a 21-10 lead at the break.
Pioneer made a small run in the third quarter, putting up 12 in the frame, but the Acorn offense kept pace with 11 points and put the game away in the fourth with 16 points.
Live Oak will return home Tuesday night to host Leland at 7 p.m.

Sobrato boy soccer falls at Hill

Andrew Hill scored three times in the second half to take down Sobrato 4-1 on Thursday in San Jose.
Sobrato falls to 2-6 overall and 1-3 in league play.
The Bulldogs played Hill tight in the first half, going down 1-0 at the break, but a trio of goals in the second half put the game out of reach.
Sobrato will next host San Jose on Monday at 3:15 p.m.

Live Oak boys soccer

The Live Oak boys soccer team fell to 0-4 in league play Thursday with a 2-1 loss to Del Mar.
The Acorns will next travel to Gunderson on Monday for a 5:30 p.m. game.
