SAN JOSE — Live Oak medalist Alex Avon shot an even-par 36 Wednesday at Coyote Creek Golf Club as the Acorns beat Sobrato 199-213 to wrap up Mount Hamilton Division matches.

The Morgan Hill teams finished 3-6 and will send two players apiece to the Blossom Valley Athletic League Individual Championship tournament, which begins at noon Tuesday at Santa Teresa.

SOFTBALL

Kallie Klinger doubled home Heather Johnson in the seventh inning to lift Sobrato past Willow Glen 3-2 Wednesday in San Jose.

Winners of two straight, the Lady Bulldogs (5-4 Santa Teresa Division) trailed until the sixth when Nicole Larson scored the tying run on a ball hit by Frankie Kellett.

Larson batted 2 for 3 with a double, two stolen bases and an RBI, and Kellett had a base hit to go with four shutout innings pitched.

Samantha Ribeiro and Johnson had one hit apiece and stole a base, and Katie Machado struck out three and gave up two runs in four hits and a pair of walks for Sobrato, which will visit second-place Santa Teresa at 3:30 p.m. today.

Live Oak 4, Branham 1

The Lady Acorns moved into a tie with Leigh for first place in the Mount Hamilton Division, getting two doubles from senior Jenna Robertson and a winning effort from sophomore pitcher Katie Obbema.

Live Oak (7-1 league) has won six straight and can qualify for the Central Coast Section playoffs with a win today at Pioneer.
