Reds 7, Braves 6
Chris Admundson had two singles for the Reds, and Ryan Laird hit a double and scored. For the Braves, Timmy Giles hit a double with the bases loaded to drive in three runs. Brandon Gross made a great catch on a popup behind the plate for the Braves.
David Rotter threw three strong innings, striking out eight and giving up one run. The Reds duo of Mike Gallucci and Laird turned a double play. Andy Muller pitched three innings, striking out eight batters and not giving up a run.
Yankees 8, Indians 4
The Yankees won their fourth game of the season. Yankee pitchers Tyler Kiefer, Tommy Nourie and Nicholas Pusateri combined for 14 strikeouts and scored seven of the eight runs.
Christian Theard scored the other run. Tyler Martz made a great defense catch at third base for the Yankees in the fifth inning.
For the Indians, Chris Nielsen and Jimmy Pearsons had two shutout innings and combined for 12 strikeouts. Both came up with a hit each. Marc Rauschnot crushed a triple to drive in two runs.
Dbacks 23, A’s 5
Diamondback players Kyle Mendez, Richie Martinez, Kolby Rousseu and Mark Harris all hit home runs in the win. Michael Garrett had three hits and scored three runs for the A’s.
Dbacks 14, Giants 3
The Diamondbacks scored three runs in the first inning on hits by Kolby Rousseu, Richie Martinez and Mark Harris and added two more in the second inning as Caey Middlekauff scored on Zach Fedalizo’s double.
Jesse Torralba went 2-for-3, and Tyler Schmilin and Mendez added hits for the Diamondbacks. The Giants Brett Fuller went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a single, and Aaron Wallace scored twice. J
Dbacks 13, Reds 5
Ricky Clift, Ryan Laird and Mike Galluci scored in the first inning as the Reds took a quick three-run lead. The Diamondbacks countered with two in the bottom of the first on Kolby Rousseau’s single and a double by Richie Martinez.
Pierre Gerard and Jacob Martin scored the other Reds runs in the second and third before Diamondback pitchers Tyler Schmidlin and Mark Harris shut the door by combing to strike out 12 Reds in the final four innings.
Carey Middlekauff, Zach Fedalizo, Kyle Mendez scored runs to help the Diamondbacks pull away.
Pony Division
Twins 2, Braves 2
The Twins and Braves played to a 2-2 tie after seven innings when the game was suspended because of darkness. The pitching on both sides dominated the game as Twins pitcher Joey Woodworth pitched five innings allowing two runs on three hits and struck out fourteen. Braves pitcher Blaine Sutton pitched four innings allowing one run on four hits and stuck out six.
The Twins scored in the bottom of the first. Steven Davis led off with a single and later scored on a single by Vince Hatakeyama.
The Braves came back with two runs in the third, Robert Barsanti led off with a walk and then stole second and third. He scored on a double by Christian Lam. Lam scored on a single by Kevin Orepeza to take the lead. The Twins tied the game in the bottom of the fifth. Emilano Mendez ted off with a single and raced around to third on a single by Steven Davis.
He then scored the tying run on a single by Isaiah Martinez. The game remained tied as Twins pitcher Vince Hatakeyama and Braves pitcher Christian Wong both pitched two scoreless innings of relief.
Giants 11, Twins 6
The Giants beat the Twins 11-6 In a game played in a steady drizzle. The Twins jumped out to an early lead in the first. Steven Davis singled and, taking advantage of a couple of wild pitches, scored the first run. Joey Woodworth then singled and stole second and third and scored when the throw to third got by the third baseman.
The Giants took control of the gam in third inning scoring six runs. Scott Alexander led off with a walk and went to third on an error on a ground ball hit by Tim Dronek. Alexander scored on an infield hit by Brian Costello.
The Giants loaded the bases with the help of two walks and Costello scored on a walk to Paul Tuttle. Troy Pearson got an RBI on a ground out to third couple of throwing errors caused by the wetness of the baseballs allowed three more runs to score.
The Giants scored two runs in the fifth and sixth Inning. But some nice defense by the Twins kept the Giants from scoring more In the sixth. After a single to left by Tim Dronek, left fielder Jesse Ramirez raced in to pick up the ball and threw a strike to third baseman Derek Pastorino who put the tag on the runner coming into third. Then catcher Joey Del Razo threw a strike to second to throw out the runner trying to steal to end the inning.
The Twins scored three times in the bottom of the seventh Joey Del Razo led off with a walk. Then James Araiza was hit by a pitch to put two runners on.
Del Razo scored on a fielders choice by Steven Davis, who scored on a single by Vince Hatakeyama. Joey Woodworth then tripled in the last run of the game.
