Mustang Division

Yankees 15, A’s 1

The Yankees offense was led by Nicholas Pusateri, Tyler Kiefer, Christian Theard and Tommy Nourie, while the A’s where led by Michael Garrett and Bryant Gamboa.

Pusateri struck out eight of nine batters for the Yankees, and Nourie struck out six of the nine batters he faced.

Indians 7, Twins 4

Michael LemMon and Chris Nielson led the Indians offensely, while Nick Prince, Kyle Villa and Leland McDonald provided the spark for the Twins. Nielson had a strong first three innings on the mound. Jimmy Persons picked up the win.

Bronco Division

Angels 6, Rangers 5

It was a nine inning thriller with both teams exchanging leads three times. The Angels put up one run in the first when Josh Carter scored on an Eric Dean single with two out. In the top of the second inning, Kenny Hall and Tom Standridge scored for the Rangers first lead of the day.

Mike Singleton tripled home J.P. Howard in the bottom of the third, but the Angels lead was short lived. Billy Van Aken put the Rangers back on top with an RBI. The Angels took a one-run lead in the fifth and looked like it would stand until the seventh. Paul Quimby led off with a single and with out outs. Dylan Frechette singled to tie the game. Both teams battled in the extra frames into the ninth. Vincent Moreshini singled and stole second. J.P. Howard ended the duel with a towering double that drove in Moreshini.

K. Hall pitched five innings and had nine strikeouts. Jon Stanco made two key plays from center field, while Travis Thompson was a solid core for the Rangers defense. R.J. Wright made a key defensive play in left field on a line shot to keep the game close early.

Braves 9, A’s 1

Kevin Saign was 2-for-3 for the Braves. Robby Coy Struck out four A’s batters in two innings. Dylan Davis pitched well but was taken out when he was hit by a pitch.

Charlie McClung was 3-for-4 with a home run for the A’s. Ryan oyano and Nick Ramirez each had doubles.

Sean Sullivan made several nice catches for the A’s Nick Ramirez and McClung each pitched two scoreless innings.

Pony Division

Giants 6, Yankees 4

The game was well-played by both teams and went down to the last out. Neither team was ever ahead by more than three runs.

Troy Pearson, Ryan Marshall, Brian Costello and Brian Yates had hits for the Giants. Pearson’s two-run single in the top of the seventh plated what proved to be the winning runs.

Jason Conrad closed out the game at pitcher after making two stellar plays at first base to take hits away from the Yanks. Costello made several fine plays at shortstop that prevented Yankees runs. Pearson pitched masterfully in relief after the Yanks took a 3-0 lead eary in the game.

For the Yankees, Cameron Willis started and pitched four innings, the first three being scoreless. Chris Barber had two hits and stole four bases. Kenny Howell and Blake Winzeler had singles and Derrick Rinauro had a double in the seventh and scored a run.

Yankees 9, Braves 0

Cameron Willis, Kenny Howell, and Chris Barber combined for a three-hit shutout, striking out 12 Brave batters. The Yankee pitchers also picked off two baserunners and continuously stymied the Braves. Howell pitched two perfect innings, striking out the side in the fourth inning. Barber struck out all seven batters he faced. Barber and Joey McGee each had two hits and two RBI. Timmy Davey had a double and Michael Guio had a single. The Yankee offense kept the pressure on and scored most of the runners it put on base.

Blaine Sutton had an outstanding game for the Braves. He pitched three no-hit innings with seven strikeouts, giving up only one run. Sutton also had a good single and robbed Barber of an extra base hit in centerfield with a diving catch.

Yankees 14, Twins 0

The Yankees threw their second consecutive shutout at the Twins, extending their pitching staff’s scoreless string to 14 and 1/3 innings. Chris Barber, Blake Winzeler, Kenny Howell, and Kyle Hennings combined to limit the Twins to five hits and one walk. The Yankee hurlers struck out 13 Twins, with Barber registering 11 of those in four innings. Only two Twin baserunners reached third base during the game.

Leadoff hitter Tim Davey scored three runs and doubled for the Yankees. Kenny Howell had three hits and a walk to cap a perfect day at the plate. Cameron Willis had two hits and was flawless at catcher. Blake Winzeler had a good hit. The Yankee defense was almost perfect, making only one harmless error. Defensive standouts were Hennings, Robert Silva, and Jim Molnar. Hennings played four positions during the game and was awesome in the field. Jake Plafker made some good plays at first base for the Yanks.

For the Twins, Joey Woodworth and Josh Doubek each had two hits. Vince Hatakeama had a hard single in the first. Joey Del Razo made two excellent grabs of foul pops at catcher. Woodworth pitched well and had several strikeouts.

Angels 8, Twins 2

The Angels used strong pitching and timely hitting to defeat the Twins 8-2. The Angels scored two runs in the first when Daniel Nelson lead off with a double and scored on Kevin Grove’s single. Grove scored the second run on a dropped fly ball in the outfield. The Angels scored three more times in the third inning on RBI. Singles by Anthony Guidry and Billy Hill. Hill scored on a double by Travis Avilla. The Twins got on the scoreboard in the fourth on a triple by Vincent Hatakeyama who raced home when the relay throw got by the third baseman. The Angels scored three more times in the sixth without the benifit of a hit. The Twins scored their last run in the seventh on a single by Hatakeyama, who moved to second on a groud out by Joey Woodworth. He later scored on a wild pitch.

Jonathan Hughes pitched five strong innings for the Angels shutting down the Twins hitters allowing one run on one hit .lsaiah Martinez pitched the seventh inning for the Twins strking out the side. For the Twins, outfielders Danny Adamo and James Araiza made nice catches. For the Angels, Kevin Mom made some nice plays at first and third base.
