A 27-year-old man who tried to hit police officers with a pipe was tased and booked into jail, and a 40-year-old man believed to have been masturbating in public with a dead deer head in his back seat was arrested Saturday.

Pablo J. Sanchez Mendez, 40, of Gilroy, was arrested after a woman reported she saw him masturbating in the front seat of his vehicle, which was parked at St. Catherine Church on Peak Avenue.

The woman and her child were walking by at approximately 9:30 a.m. when they noticed the offensive behavior and called police.

Mendez was cited and released for alleged indecent exposure and illegal possession of wildlife.

A fresh deer head was found in his car, according to Sgt. Jerry Neumayer, and Fish and Game officials were called and took the head.

A police officer jolted a man with a Taser late Saturday afternoon at a residence on Alkire Avenue near Dewitt Avenue when he repeatedly refused to obey officers’ commands and came at them with a pipe.

Presiliano Prado, 27, was booked into Santa Clara County Jail for alleged felony vandalism and resisting arrest. He was treated by medical personnel before he was booked into jail, which is the policy of the Morgan Hill Police Department when a Taser is used.

A woman called dispatchers at approximately 5:30 p.m. saying that Prado, who is her brother, had been hitting her mother and siblings and that he was holding them hostage in the house.

When Cpl. Ray Ramos and officers David Ray and Ken Howard arrived, Prado was in the front of the house with a pipe, hitting a Mercedes that was parked in the driveway. Officers repeatedly told Prado to drop the pipe, but he continued to hit the car, according to Neumayer. When he finally stopped hitting the car, he turned and began walking away then came at the officers with the pipe.

“The officers handled the situation very well, showing restraint, giving him verbal commands repeatedly,” Neumayer said.

When Prado threatened the officers with the pipe, he was tased and arrested.

Prado’s family members, meanwhile, had escaped from him through a rear window and refused medical treatment.

Early Sunday morning, officers arrested a Morgan Hill woman and a San Jose man after stopping a car on Keith Way.

Officers Brandon Richards and Luis Espejo arrested Michael Valenzuela, 21, at approximately 1:02 a.m. Officers learned he had a no-bail warrant, but they also found marijuana and approximately two ounces of methamphetamine in the car. He was booked into county jail for alleged possession of marijuana for sales, possession of a controlled substance for sales and transportation of drugs.

The passenger in the vehicle, Pricilla Pena, 28, was cited and released for interfering with or obstructing a peace officer.
