An arrest warrant has been issued for Mark Fredrickson, 24, whom Morgan Hill police believe robbed a man at gunpoint and assaulted him last Saturday in a local motel.
Police say Fredrickson is a transient. He’s wanted on charges of alleged robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and making criminal threats.
Police Sgt. David Swing said Fredrickson has recently been seen in Santa Cruz and is believed to be staying in hotels.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred July 29 at the Microtel Motel on Condit Road. Swing said it is important that the public realize that the attack was not a random one and that Fredrickson is known to the alleged victim.
On Saturday night, Swing said, Fredrickson and an accomplice allegedly assaulted Luis G. Biondi, 44, of Morgan Hill and allegedly stole an undisclosed amount of money and personal items from him.
Biondi was injured during the alleged assault and robbery, and was treated and released at Valley Medical Center. Because of the ongoing investigation, Swing said, the nature of Biondi’s injuries could not be released to the public at this time.
Detectives are working to identify Fredrickson’s accomplice. Anyone with information about the incident, Fredrickson’s whereabouts or his accomplice is asked to contact police Det. Kevin Beilmann at (408) 776-7323. To leave an anonymous tip, contact Crime Stoppers at (408) 947-STOP.
