Two dead in string of wrecks; bus passengers elude tragedy

Morgan Hill Police and multiple agencies in the area shut down the Britton Middle School carnival Friday night after officers responded to reports of a violent incident that required significant crowd control.
Police are asking parents to contact their children who attended the carnival, and make sure they get home immediately, according to a post on the Morgan Hill PD Facebook page. Anyone remaining in the area, including children, is subject to arrest as authorities issued a “dispersal order” in response to the massive incident.
The post by MHPD states the police action started with a “reported violent encounter.” Witnesses and other social media users estimated the first officers responded to the area just before 6:30pm April 27. Police from Gilroy, San Jose and the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office were seen responding and surrounding crowds in the area of the carnival, which took place on the Britton campus at 80 W. Central Ave.
No injuries were reported, according to the 7:35pm post on the MHPD Facebook page.
