after an accident Friday night which seriously injured her and
victims from another vehicle.

Accident: A 43-year-old Merced woman was arrested and charged with being under the influence of a controlled substance after an accident Friday night which seriously injured her and victims from another vehicle.
Perian Odea was driving southbound on Highway 101 north of Cochrane Road in a Ford Tempo, swerving to the right and to the left, according to witnesses, and nearly collided with two other vehicles.
Brian Clarke, 39, of Redwood City, was standing next to an Audi A6 parked on the shoulder of the road, buckling his 2-year-old son into the car seat, when Odea swerved onto the shoulder and hit the Audi without braking. Clarke was also hit by the Ford, and flew into the air. He suffered major head injuries and was flown by LifeFlight to Stanford University Hospital. His son received minor injuries; a 2-year-old daughter in the vehicle was not injured; Clarke’s wife, Amie, received minor injuries.
Odea was flown by CalStar to Valley Medical Center in San Jose with broken ribs. The report was taken at 9:30 p.m. on April 30.
• Six Watsonville residents were treated for minor injuries after the Dodge Caravan they were in overturned Sunday afternoon. Evelia Hernandez, 44, was driving the Caravan northbound on Highway 101, south of Bernal Road, at 65 mph she told officers.
The left rear tire blew, causing the van to veer to the right crossing two lanes of traffic. As it left the roadway, the van ran into a dirt embankment and flipped over. Hernandez and passengers Javier Ayelera, 30, Beatrice Sanchez, 34, and three girls aged 11, 13 and 14 were able to get out of the Caravan by themselves, and were treated at the scene. They were then taken by ambulance to San Jose Medical Center and Valley Medical Center in San Jose. No charges were filed. The report was taken at 1:10 p.m. on May 2.
MORGAN HILL POLICE
Burglary: A resident of Oak Leaf Court reported someone broke into the resident’s garage through a window on the side garage door and stole a custom mountain bike valued at approximately $4,000-$5,000. The report was taken on April 19 at 12:52 p.m.
• A resident of the 18300 block of Carriage Drive reported she is in the process of moving out of the residence, and when she returned to the residence, the entertainment center was missing. She found no sign of forced entry. The report was taken at 3:51 p.m. on April 20.
Vandalism: A Morgan Hill resident reported pellets or bb’s were being shot at cars in the Target parking lot. At least three vehicles were hit. The report was taken on April 21 at 7:06 p.m.
GILROY POLICE
Theft: Veronica Angelina Gonzalez, 21, of 17245 Torrey Court in Morgan Hill, was arrested by Gilroy police at 3 a.m. Wednesday, April 28 at Pappani Drive and Gaunt Avenue on suspicion of auto theft and receiving stolen property, felonies. Allegedly, Gonzalez was stopped while driving a 2000 Mitsubishi Mirage that had been reported stolen.
• Jose Trinidad Toro Diaz, 19, of 140 Ciolino Ave. in Morgan Hill, was arrested by Gilroy police Tuesday, April 27 at 5:30 p.m. at 6705 Camino Arroyo on suspicion of petty theft, possession of a deceptive government ID and giving false identification to police, all misdemeanors.
SHERIFF
Vandalism: Unknown suspects(s) used a knife to cut the front tires of a blue GMC 1500 Van, a damage of $240, between 6 p.m. on March 29 and 8 a.m. on March 30, as reported to Sheriff’s deputies.
Vehicle violations: Sheriff’s deputies arrested Eleuterio Reynoso at 5 p.m. on March 30, at Monterey Highway and San Martin Avenue in San Martin under suspicion of a vehicle infraction of being parked near a railroad crossing and a misdemeanor of resisting/delaying an officer. Suspect was cited and released.
